Student Packet #0631 See the book 1984 by George Orwell (# 0847 ) The United Kingdom is thrown into a civil war that results in the nation of Oceana, a totalitarian government. There is a supposed leader named Big Brother and there are signs saying: Big Brother is Watching You. The story centers around the affair of the Ministry of Truth bureaucrat, Winston Smith and his (illicit) sexual relationship with Julia along with their intellectual rebellion against The Party. They are captured and imprisoned, interrogated, tortured, and finally re-educated to love only Big Brother and The Party.
