For ten-year old Ann Hamilton, life out west was anything but adventurous. In fact, she had never been lonelier. She missed her cousin Margaret and her school friends back in Gettysburg. Her mother promised that when a special occasion occurred, she could wear her fancy shoes and they would use the linen tablecloth. She longed for the ease and comfort of those days until a stranger rode into Hamilton Hill and changed her life. He stayed for supper and Ann agreed there never had been a better party. As he rode over the hill, she knew that Hamilton Hill is the best place to help build the West.
